Hey there! Thanks for visiting the site. People call me Smokey (long story) and I photograph because I can't paint. I'm obsessed about how we function and itch to capture the most private folds of our DNA without asking any questions or research. I came across a portrait of Sartre by Henri-Cartier Bresson and that's how the obsession of photographing amazing human beings started (and by amazing I don't mean just famous).
Just like you, I'm obsessed with so many things, it impossible to narrow it down, right ?! ... But if I had to pick, I'd say I definitely can't live without New York, my friends, cinema, Otto Dix, Smalls jazz bar in West Village, theatre, shoes, BBC radio, Louis Kahn, the sound of French and Italian, Nina Simone (nothing better than her), Rachmaninov (genius), The Notorious B.I.G., 2Pac & Eminem (legends) and all other tunes I'm crazy about; then there is Kieslowski, Messerschmidt, Kundera and Richard Ford, Dostoevsky, The Dick Cavett show, Tarkovsky, Woody Allen, Malle, Scorsese and so much more! But above all I can't live without my mum's borsch! Mum Rules!
Below is the official info about me written by my lovely representation....read on or better still, skip it and check out my work! Merci & see you around xx Smokey
